On the 4th of september, we plan a short visit of the Island of the impressionists in Chatou (3 short RER station from Nanterre University) and the Gala dinner will take at the Restaurant Fournaise on  the Island of the impressionists.

The Island of the Impressionists stretches over 4.5 km from Nanterre to Chatrou. Its name was given in memory of the painters who frequented the site in the 19th century: Renoir, Monet, Degas, Caillebotte, Sisley, Morisot, and the Manet family. Some very famous painting have been painted there.

By the mid-19th century, boating had become a fashionable pastime, offering Parisians an escape from the constraints of city life. In 1857, Monsieur Fournaise, a boatbuilder, set up his workshop on the Île de Chatou, while his wife opened a restaurant there.

Madame Fournaise took charge of the kitchen, while Monsieur oversaw the organization of nautical festivities, including memorable jousting tournaments. Their son Alphonse helped ladies board the boats, and his sister Alphonsine—a favorite model among the painters—welcomed guests with care.

From south to north, you’ll find the Impressionists’ Park, a space for family strolls and sports activities with its facilities (gym, skatepark, basketball court, pony club), followed by the Exhibition Promenade, the parking lot under the bridge, the Fournaise Hamlet, the EDF research site, and finally the Golf of the "Île Fleurie".

The Gala dinner will take place at Fournaise restaurant-museum https://www.maisonfournaise.com/ . Triple-starred (Michelin) chef Christian Le Squer, an icon of Parisian haute cuisine, has partnered with La Maison Fournaise in Chatou to collaborate with the current chef, Akima El Berimi. Together, they have reinvented the restaurant's menu, reimagining classic dishes with a modern twist. They will welcome us in this beautiful place.
